Great blog-writing with the Royal Society

What are the tips for great blogging? Find out at a TextWorkshop.

Does your museum or charity have a blog? If so, what are the tips for great blog-writing? How often should you post? And how can you use other social media like Twitter and Facebook to grow your audience?

These topics led the agenda on a great day with the Royal Society in April. Staff on the course, who contribute to a variety of blogs with different audiences and aims, discussed tone and style and joined in exercises which had them blogging and tweeting all afternoon.

We welcomed Mar Dixon, social media guru, for a session about how she leads the successful social media presence for charity Kids in Museums.

We’re asked to run in-house social media courses for many organisations, and it was good to have this feedback from the Royal Society:

My main learning outcome was seeing the organisational value of social media.

A really enjoyable workshop – tips I can really use in my everyday writing.

Thanks once again for the workshop, we found it very useful and informative, and will be putting many of the tips into practice very soon!
