TextWorkshop

“Very practical and genuinely handy tips”

Battersea Arts Centre

Our writing tips work brilliantly with museum and gallery text – and they apply just as much in heritage houses, zoos, gardens, theatres and arts organisations. So it was great to spend the day yesterday running our TextWorkshop at Battersea Arts Centre, recently awarded an HLF grant of £2.5 million to conserve their building and create a public archive of their history.

We welcomed delegates from MOSI, the Horniman, the Royal College of Nursing, Imperial War Museum and Langley Academy, as well as project staff from BAC. Thanks to all for great discussions and feedback:

“My main learning outcome is that text-writing is vital and often gives audiences their first impression of the building.”

“Relaxed but full of excellent info.”

“This has given me thoughts and ideas about approaching label writing more creatively.”

“I’ve known about TextWorkshop for a while and am pleased to have finally come.”

“Good to have a laugh.”

“Thank you, I really enjoyed it. Met my expectations fully.”

“Very clear structure and excellent examples.”

“Lovely friendly tone.”

“The best part for me? I loved the variety and amount of examples. Great tips to take forward.”

“Lots of useful tips and practical applications.”
